About SPIN

SPIN – Space Innovation is a non-profit organization focusing on the development and knowledge-sharing of space technologies, consisting mainly of university students. We believe that scientific knowledge about space should be accessible to young people!

OUR HISTORY

SPIN is an effort of inspired young people with a shared vision of contributing to the development of the Space Sector. SPIN was founded in 2017 by Ilias Psyroukis and Ilias Theodoridis, students of the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering of the National Technical University of Athens, who organized the first Greek space competition, CanSat in Greece. Since then, SPIN has being developing educational projects not only to enhance skills and broaden the knowledge of young people but also to research and develop new space-related technologies.

OUR MISSION

Our mission is to enable students and researchers to engage in space technologies by involving them in the process of planning and implementing innovative programs in order to reinforce the Greek Space Ecosystem. 

OUR VISION

Our vision is to strengthen the culture of space exploration in the country, creating a core for space technology development by providing the needed knowledge, labs, and networking.

Our Projects

CanSat In Greece

CanSat in Greece is a Greek space competition organized in collaboration with the European Space Agency (ESA). Participants are tasked to design and build an educational can-sized satellite for to carry out a space mission that they themselves have envisioned.

Rocketry Project

Our Rocketry Team is engaged in research and development of small sat launcher systems. SPIN was the first organization to successfully launch fully student researched and developed high power rockets in Greece.

STEM Workshops

SPIN has many years of experience in organizing STEM Workshops designed for high school & university students as well as high school teachers incorporating Arduino technologies. So far, 40 STEM seminars have been organized across Greece with more than 600 participants.

Space Talks

Throughout the year SPIN organizes Space Talks that focus on knowledge sharing between participants, academics & industry leaders in the space sector. During these events participants can get informed, meet like minded individuals and get inspired to follow a career in the space sector.
